Dr Brookins is a TRL-IL favorite, as he is deeply knowledgeable and passionate, and always such a dynamic and captivating speaker. We are very excited to be able to bring him back for a session that will equip upper-grade teachers with strategies to help students craft effective theses, select meaningful textual evidence, and develop elaborative writing skills rooted in close reading. Participants will explore how the reading-writing feedback cycle leverages texts to build background knowledge, enrich vocabulary, and analyze an author’s craft and text structure that strengthens academic writing. By the end of the session, educators will gain practical methods to enhance students’ reading and writing connections, fostering critical thinking and academic success.
